In today's work environment, grooming and etiquette plays a very vital role in any business endeavor. Protocol, manners, behavior and formalities appropriate to the occasion, greatly enhance the chances of successful interactions and fruitful negotiations, leading to lasting personal and business relationships. Thus, it is imperative for executives at all levels to learn and practice the same to have that crucial edge, in the business scenario.

More deals are struck over lunch and dinner than in the office. Many business functions take place in dining situations – whether it's meeting an employer for a interview or business discussions with clients/colleagues. Mastering impeccable dining and table manners gives you that extra confidence to concentrate on your clients or colleagues. You want to focus on discussions instead of worrying about which fork/cutlery to use and other dining emergencies. Understanding the flow of the different courses in a meal and handling them with ease, with good manners, is very conducive to desired outcomes.

The 2 days workshop aims at giving practical inputs to enable participants to groom themselves appropriately, build a professional attitude and take their business and dining etiquette to the next level. The participants will also be introduced to fine dining etiquette across cross cultures. The workshop also employs world class tool of 'Image Management', to ensure complete image makeover.

Note on 'Image Management'

Image management is the science and art of pro-active ongoing evaluation and control of the impact of appearance on self, others and the achievement of  goals. Image influences public perception of you, which in turn results in an impression of you.  You judge others via first impressions, and the image they portray is part of those first impressions. Most people are unaware of the fact that a major part of communication is visual. What we see we remember and what we hear we forget. For this reason creating first impressions is very crucial and important in today's competitive scenario. With Image Management, one can master the art of expression through physical appearance, body language and business etiquette to project confidence and trustworthiness. These factors also assist in projecting an image of capability and Leadership, for e.g, at a conference or an important meeting. This in turn, ensures achieving full potential and ultimate success. An organization's corporate image is reflected in the employees and this impacts how clients, prospects and business partners perceive your organization. What we see, we believe, is the latest mantra in the Corporate. In today's environment, success not only depends on traditional factors like knowledge, sincerity, hard work, performance etc. but also is dependent on the superficial image we project.

The 2 days workshop will enable the participants to:
  • Understand the importance of making lasting impressions and fundamentals of corporate grooming and etiquette
  • Create an unique identity with great impact, by developing an appropriate image, to achieve goals successfully
  • Develop a personal style through body language, power dressing and grooming
  • Conduct  in a professional manner to make social and business interactions pleasant and productive
  • Be adept at dining etiquette and table manners
  • Understand the style of dining etiquette across cross cultures

The 2 days workshop will immensely help Organizations in empowering their employees to project a professional and consistent winning image, in consonance with defined business objectives. The sure takeaways for Organizations are numerous viz., Premium Projection, Positioning & Pricing, Larger Market Share, Attracting Best Talent & Retention, Lower Attrition Costs and reaching new levels of Employee Morale, Culture and Engagement etc.

Workshop on Emotional Intelligence in Pune on 15-16 March' 2013

Workshop on Emotional Intelligence in Pune on 15th and 16th March' 13

QICPL (Quantum Infotrainers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd.) is a young & dynamic organisation. At the very core is its belief in Quality Commitment & Ethics. Ever since its inception on 5th Sept 2001 it bridged the gap between the requirements of the industry and the curriculum of Educational Institutions

Quantum will be hosting a two days workshop on "Emotional Intelligence (EI)" at Pune. The details of the workshop are as follows:

What is EI?
The expression (EI) indicates a kind of intelligence or skill that involves the ability to perceive, assess and positively influence one's own and other people's emotions. EI is a mix of skills, such as awareness of emotions; traits, such as persistence and zeal; and effective behaviour.

Organizational change and increased stress levels seem to go hand in hand these days. The corporate sector in India is going through a rapid metamorphosis, bringing with it a tremendous change, not providing sufficient time to employees to adjust to it. This poses a challenge to employees whose beliefs can make them resistant to change, or intolerant of and resentful to the discomfort caused. The pressures that come along with this, may cause individuals to generate negative self-defeating internal dialogue which can lead to negative emotions such as anger, anxiety, depression, rage, resentment etc. this ironically comes in their own way, and keeps them and the organization from reaching their goals, and contributes to their failures.

Goleman claimed EI is "twice as powerful" as IQ, and may predict far greater success in life, as compared to cognitive and analytical skills.

Description of the workshop:
This workshop is intended for people seeking the skills and emotional understanding to work with complex, interpersonal situations such as conflict. It starts by examining the principles of EI. It then looks at how these can be used to understand situations and how to select and apply techniques and approaches to effectively achieve desired outcomes. The first section examines the development of emotional expression, beliefs and behaviours in order to better diagnose and read other people's (and our own) behaviour, particularly emotional messages and reactions. This provides an understanding of why conflict is often complicated and not easily resolved. Included in the first day are EI techniques for remaining calm and not becoming defensive or caught up in difficult interactions. Practical exercises are used to illustrate and practise communication skills and techniques for using group dynamics to set up and conduct constructive resolution processes. Other workshop elements include understanding and working with over-reactions, anxiety, anger and defensiveness. The workshop has a very practical focus and participants are encouraged to bring with them examples of real conflict situations so that these can be addressed.

Workshop Contents:
» What is self talk?
» Identifying self talk
» Thinking and emotions
» The importance of emotional regulation
» The ABCD'S of Emotional intelligence

» Identifying your core beliefs
» Identifying faulty thinking
» Emotional intelligence in the workplace: do's and don'ts
» Ways to enhance emotional competencies in one self and others.
» Personal Action Plan

Organizational Benefits:
Researchers have found a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and the different level of meaning an individual holds towards work. They also believe emotional intelligence can enhance workplace performance, depending on the nature of the position. Emotionally intelligent individuals performed better under difficult and stressful tasks. Emotional intelligence may be an important, even necessary, ability for leaders, to motivate and influence others.

EI predicted organizational commitment and job satisfaction, particularly when combined with job control. Ashkanasy and Jordan (1997) found that emotional intelligence predicted the ability to endure job insecurity and periods of short-term unemployment. People who deal better with emotional problems experienced less burnout caused by work. Empathy, self-regulation of mood, and self-presentation are significantly related to emotional intelligence.

Workshop Particulars:
Location: Pune, Dates: March 15-16, 2013 (Fri & Sat)
Time: 9:30 am - 5:30 pm

This workshop is respectful of people's preferences for approaching this sometimes challenging material, and will provide ways for people to be self-determining in their own participation. Participants will be encouraged to work with the EI concepts and skills in relation to situations they have experienced, or those they are currently facing.

A variety of methods will be used in the workshop including:
» The presentation and explanation of frameworks, skills and techniques
» Interactive discussion of concepts and their applications
» Practice and feedback in a safe and constructive manner using case studies » Reflection and review of personal style and beliefs about emotions

Learning outcomes and organizational benefits:
The workshop aims to provide participants with the opportunity to:
» Recognise and understand emotions and emotional beliefs and behaviours
» Regulate their self-talk, and also be able to tune into the self talk of others.
» Identify their own core beliefs, and modify those that are harming or preventing them from reaching their goals.
» Understand the difference between helpful and harmful thinking, and have the tools required to dispute their irrational thinking.
» Deal more effectively with difficult people.
» Give and receive feedback in a healthy style.
» Deal with people more effectively, and job related stress.

Workshop on Raising funds from Private Equity firms & SME platforms of BSE-NSE

Workshop on Raising funds from Private Equity firms & SME platforms of BSE-NSE
21 MAR 2013 JW Marriott, MUMBAI
23 MAR 2013 The Claridges, DELHI
26 MAR 2013 Courtyard Marriott, CHENNAI
Thinking behind this programme:

Let us start asking SMEs following questions:
1. Have you been looking to raise capital either equity or debt to grow and expand your business.
2. Do you feel raising debt capital from banking sector (generally being collateralized) is a significant challenge. Alternative sources of debt are exorbitantly expensive.
3. Do you feel alternative source of equity capital from Private sources (Private Equity and Venture Capital) is emerging fast in the country. But, you don't know how this whole stuff works.
4. Do you feel SME platforms of Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange may help you raise capital from public in a much more simplified manner (some SMEs have already raised capital from these platforms) but you don't know how does it work.

If answer to all the above questions is BIG YES!, you must attend this programme. This Programme would provide solution to the SME companies struggling with above questions through highlighting how SME companies can access equity capital from Private sources (Private Equity/Venture Capital) and/or from public (Initial Public Issue - IPOs) through recently launched Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) platforms of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Objective of the programme:

Last several months have been tough for the corporates. On one hand, pressures from general decrease in demand for various products and services, competitive landscape resulting in squeezing profit margins and on the other hand, scarcity of available resources. Availability of credit has become challenge and if the same is available, cost is exorbitantly high.

Interestingly, in this environment, an alternative source of fund called Private Equity created its own space. Today, almost 300 Venture Capital/Private Equity (VC/PE) firms operate in the country with different focuses and operational dynamics. These firms have made significant contribution towards growth of corporates by making the capital available.

Further, with development of SME platforms by Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE), it is possible now for SMEs to access equity capital from public in a quite simplistic manner and get listed on the stock exchanges. Public issues now can be done by SMEs to raise very small capital (say around Rs. 5 Cr.); No prior track record is required for the IPO; No offer document to go to SEBI for approval; And, there is guarantee for 100% subscription of the issue as the issue gets fully underwritten by the investment/merchant banker etc…

Accordingly, this programme is conceptualized to provide a pragmatic perspective on various aspects of accessing equity capital from Private sources and/or public through SME platforms of BSE and NSE. This programme is the product of faculty's real life experience of working with corporates on their fund raising initiatives.
Programme Focus :
• Make corporates think and understand the perspective on raising capital from public and privat e markets.
• Understand the perspective of PEs/VCs - what do they look for in their portfolio companies and how do they analyze businesses before investing
• What are the requirements for raising capital from BSE and NSE SME platforms.
